The Dory Learning Center is a place for young people (ages 12 -19) who wish to live, work and learn in the real world.

Our Model

Student-led - Students create individualized academic plans based on interests, passions and goals. Democratic governance means students shape every aspect of their educational experience from building curriculum to hiring staff.

Based in the Community - Youth learn and grow through participation in the world: Internships, jobs, citizen science, technology, classes, craft, workshops, art, apprenticeship, activism, entrepreneurship, independent study, vocational training, college courses, media production, and more. Education is place-based and hands-on, grounded in the ecosystems, economy and civic life of our community.

Comprehensive Mentorship - Each student meets weekly with an advisor who connects them with opportunities in the community, helps them access educational resources, and provides tools, skills and individualized support for navigating life.
